Casanare implements primary health care model » PRENSA LIBRE CASANARE

During the launch of the Primary Health Care program in Casanare this Tuesday, Governor César Ortiz Zorro confirmed the incorporation of 776 health professionals, including doctors, dentists, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists and nursing assistants, who will focus in prevention, changing the traditional orientation of health care, which historically has been reactive, paying attention when the person is already sick.

The president pointed out that the primary health care project is implemented in collaboration with the National Government, whose mission is to seek to prevent diseases before they develop, including the prevention of cancer, hypertension, malnutrition and other common diseases.

He said that the professionals will visit the most humble homes in the department, covering approximately 70% of the rural area of Casanare. Direct care in homes by these professionals will help decongest hospitals, which are currently overloaded due to the lack of timely primary care.

The Governor of Casanare indicated that health posts will be reactivated and equipped, and new primary care centers will be built in towns such as Maní, San Luis de Palenque and Hato Corozal, with special attention to hospitals that are under development, such as those in Trinidad and Orocué and the one in Villanueva that is already under construction. Likewise, the construction of second level hospitals is planned in Aguazul and Pore, and a third and fourth level hospital, with support from the Ministry of Health.

The launch was attended by an official from Gustavo Petro’s Government, who stated that the Minister of Health and his team at the national level have expressed their willingness to provide the necessary resources to improve the health infrastructure in Casanare.
