They denounce the appearance of offensive posters in the San José health center in Zaragoza

The Primary Care Medical Unions of Aragon (Fasamet and CESMAragón) have shown their total rejection of the new case of violence against health professionals in the Community. On this occasion, an unidentified person hung up in two consultations at the San José Centro and Norte health center, posters with phrases “Medical abuse” and “Patients deserve better care.”

The unions emphasize that these messages represent “a written aggression that must be prosecuted just like any other type of aggression.” Professionals emphasize that violence, verbal or physical, against health personnel is a constant scourge that continues to grow year after year, “which shows that HEALTH does not sufficiently comply with with its legal duty to protect its workers.

According to data from the Department of Health of the Government of Aragon, in 2023 there were 722 caseswhich is two every day, of which 256 were physical attacks, 35%, and up to 20 victims had to request work disability.

Regarding evolution, in 2020, 236 attacks were recorded, which grew to 335 in 2021 and 484 in 2022. The 722 events in 2023 thus represented a record increase of 50%, which in 2024 may be surpassed again.

Professionals remember that in March 2019 they considered five urgent actionswhich have been reiterated on different occasions, but have not been developed: provide all centers with a 24-hour security guard, install video surveillance cameras, “panic button” on work tables, “geolocation bracelet ” for professionals outside the center and fines of up to 30,000 euros for aggressors.

The Primary Care Medical Unions have stressed that “health attacks represent a added difficulty to working conditions in which they carry out their work, with insufficient staff and saturated agendas, and that not allowing any similar case is a condition for improving the quality of health care.
