Casanare in health emergency due to respiratory viruses and dengue » FREE PRESS CASANARE

The department of Casanare faces a serious health crisis with the overflow of hospital capacity due to a significant increase in children affected by respiratory diseases, reported the governor of Casanare, César Ortiz Zorro, noting that among those affected is his son Salvador, who suffers from an aggressive respiratory virus and has been hospitalized for several days.

The president said that this situation is aggravated by the winter season, which has contributed to the increase in these cases and added that, in the face of this emergency, a health alert for dengue has been declared in the department, mobilizing all available institutional resources, in logistics, infrastructure, operational capacity and hiring of health personnel to face the crisis.

The deployment of 776 new professionals from the Primary Health Care model is one of the main strategies to address this problem, focusing on prevention and primary care in homes, this team of professionals will be essential to prevent more children from reaching the hospital, by providing care and prevention directly in their homes, according to Ortiz Zorro.
