The inhabitants of the municipality of El Agrado in the center of Huila have gone three months without drinking water service. because the water resource of the Yaguilga stream that supplies the local aqueduct is not suitable for consumption and can put the health of the residents at risk.

Juan Diego Hernández, responsible for the technical area of ​​the departmental Health Secretariat, pointed out that, to date, We have been working with the public services company to provide a solution to this health problem that affects more than 5,000 users in the municipality.

“Until now, water consumption via aqueduct remains suspended. There is a sanitary infeasibility due to the low quality of the water. At the time, the alarms went off and the operator, Aguas y Aseo del Pital and El Agrado, was directly notified. From that moment on, an evaluation of the existing problems regarding the conditions of the treatment plant was made. It is important to say that a measure was taken to suspend the supply,” said the official.

The health secretary official explained that, from the moment the water supply was suspended in the municipality of El Agrado, there has been permanent monitoring and follow-up, but warned that the conditions are not yet in place to enable the aqueduct again.

Finally, the official said that the inhabitants of El Agrado will continue to consume water through tank trucks. until the aqueduct is in optimal conditions to supply the liquid to the population.
