On the morning of this Wednesday, June 5, The Supreme Court of Justice announced that the Investigative Chamber abstained from imposing a security measure against the former congressman and now mayor of Sincelejo (Sucre) Yahir Fernando Acuña Cardales.

According to the high court, the former House representative “is investigated for the alleged crime of conspiracy to commit a crime aggravated by promoting armed groups outside the law.”

“The case is related to the accusations ofthe former paramilitary Juan Manuel Borré Barreto according to which the former congressman would have had links with the illegal organization called ‘Los Rastrojos Costeños’,” the Court noted.

The Court investigates the alleged support of these drug traffickers so that Awedge will reach the House of Representatives in the period 2010-2014.

On the other hand, the high court seeks to determine whether Acuña had allegedly financed this group outside the law.

It is worth remembering that the politician from Sucre has had several criminal and disciplinary investigations for alleged links with paramilitaries and with the deceased.
