Public Health in Corrientes: transfers cost $200,000 and works are paralyzed
The data was revealed by the director of the Santo Tomé Provincial Hospital. One of the regional care centers that has had construction stopped for months. The costs of referrals and the input that generates the most expense for referrals, fuel for ambulances.
The healthcare center located on the coast of the Uruguay River last month had 20 referrals to the city of Corrientes, sometimes it is a little less, but generally that is the number of patients that must be transferred to the provincial capital.
At current costs, each referral is $200,000, with fuel for ambulances being the most expensive input, to which must be added the per diem for the driver of the medical mobile, nurses and doctor.
In the provincial hospital of Santo Tomé, there are also paralyzed works such as the construction of new operating rooms. Work that has been carried out for more than a year and has slow progress, now directly stopped and the hospital authorities do not know the reason because they are not informed.
“And the main work today is stopped, it is apparently stopped due to logistical issues,” explained the director of the care center.
