A stable cast from the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage presented the best of its repertoire at the Lucho Gatica Regional Theatre. Next presentations will be in Peumo, Coinco, Mostazal and Malloa.

Cuecas, tunes, dance and a repertoire that took us through the deep traditions of our country. An unforgettable night was experienced by more than 700 people who came to the Lucho Gatica Regional Theater in Rancagua to attend the artistic gala of the National Folkloric Ballet BAFONA, a stable cast of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, which began the itineration of its 59th anniversary in the O’Higgins region.

The Seremi of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Cristo Cucumides Litin, highlighted the high attendance and the “great presentation of our National Folkloric Ballet of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage. The public enjoyed this great presentation where they showed us our culture, our own identity. They showed beautiful paintings of the Doñihue chamanteras, the mythology and legends of Chiloé, our cueca and national dance. “People vibrated, got excited and really wanted to prolong this great show.”

For his part, the executive director of the Culture and Arts Corporation of the Illustrious Municipality of Rancagua, Alejandro Cantillana Jaque, stated that “it is a pleasure to be able to receive Lucho Gatica Regional Theater, and as a city and region, to be able to receive the Bafona, a cast that keeps alive our traditions, Chilean flavors, Chilean mythology, through an artistic proposal that, without a doubt, is of the highest level, a wonderful cast of dance and musicians that also fills us with pride knowing that they have a Rancagüino within their ranks who is the great Sergio Veas, tremendous singer, musician and folklorist. We appreciate that the Ministry of Culture thinks of the inhabitants of the O’Higgins region to receive this wonderful cast, we thank the Seremi of Cultures, and we hope that it will be the continuity of a collaborative work to continue working to democratize access to culture and the arts.”

The show included the presentation of “La Chamantera”, a work that is inspired by the work carried out by the chamanto weavers in the town of Doñihue, in addition to the painting “Chiloé myth and tradition”, which rescues and stages old community customs such as the grinding pestles and the mingas. The show also featured the voices of Joyce Valle and Miriam Ferrada, who performed tunes and songs from the central area of ​​Chile, and the presentation of prominent Rancagüino singer-songwriter Sergio Veas, who sang melodies from the popular songbook. The event ended with the emblematic painting “Huasos”, a work whose music and dances are linked to the various tasks of the ancient life of the Chilean countryside.

The presentations in the O’Higgins region will take place, at 7 p.m. upon confirmation, according to the following calendar: Peumo, Friday, June 14; Coinco, Friday June 28; San Francisco de Mostazal, Friday, August 9; and Malloa, Friday, October 11. Entry is free.
