Romanian director Tedy Necula will present his film “Coboram La Prima” in Chile

It is not common to see Romanian cinema in Chilean theaters, especially with the presence of its director. In its objective of being a complete showcase of European cinema, the European Film Festival will feature in its 26th edition – which takes place between June 5 and 16 – the presence of Tedy Necula, a Romanian filmmaker who will present his film “ Coboram La Prima” in a discussion that will also feature the participation of the Ambassador of Romania in Chile, Floricel Paul Mocanu.

The meeting will be this Friday, June 7, at 8:00 p.m., in the Cinema Room of the Universidad Mayor (Campus El Claustro. Marín 321, Santiago). It is a free event with prior registration.

The European Film Festival is an activity coordinated by the Delegation of the European Union in Chile, together with the European cultural centers and participating European countries. Sponsored by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage. This year –with an expansion that goes from Arica to Punta Arenas–, the event has established an alliance with the Chilean Film Theater Network, who will exhibit the programming through their headquarters throughout the country.

“Inspiring story”

Tedy Necula has created more than 40 documentaries and inspirational films aimed at commercial and social projects and causes in Europe. He has been in close contact with vulnerable groups such as orphans, people with disabilities, LGBT, prison women, AIDS carriers and communities at risk. His type of philosophy makes him look for inspiration in the narrative of any topic or brand, even in places where others only find dramas.

“Coboram La Prima” is set in the subway, blocked between stations the morning after the fire at the Collective Club in Bucharest. Everyone goes their own way, they are together and they start to interact. They are strangers until something keeps them together. At the end of the journey, at the next station, each one leaves modified. They are together in the world, as they are in a subway car.

“It is an inspiring story that we live every day, we are in the subway as we are in the world, together with each other, and if we open we see that we have what we share,” highlights the filmmaker. “It is not a film about collective tragedy, but life cannot deny the event. There are parallel stories from the lives of many people that one day find themselves with special meaning for some.”

The “Coboram La Prima” cineforum will be a great opportunity to get closer to Romanian cinema and a director who has always emphasized emotions and inclusion.
