Passerini announced the Fourth World Circular Economy Summit in the city of Córdoba

With the Biodiversity Park as a setting and example of the environmental policies carried out by the Municipality, Mayor Daniel Passerini announced that the city will host the Fourth World Circular Economy Summit.

Recently recognized at the regional level by the Organization of American States, the Municipality of Córdoba organizes this event at the Córdoba Fairgrounds on June 13, 14 and 15, with free participation.

This fourth edition will seek to show the integration of the Knowledge, Creative, Community and Circular economies in this new productive model, essential to combat Climate Change.

“This place, until a few years ago, was a place where animals suffered and we made the decision to transform it. And that is what the Circular Economy is about: transforming,” explained the mayor in clear reference to the substantial change that turned the old zoo into the modern Biodiversity Park, where the Summit presentation event took place.

“Climate change is the consequence of the mistreatment of the environment, mainly in the last century. The Municipality of Córdoba decided to be part of the solution and we began to be a world reference in the Circular Economy,” Passerini highlighted in relation to the multiple strategies developed by the municipality together with all relevant actors.

On the other hand, the mayor highlighted the centrality of public policies based on data and that improve the quality of life of residents. “This great work that we do with Martín Llaryora is to project Córdoba. We are not going to add a grain of sand, we are going to add a mountain so that this can be resolved,” he emphasized.

Through multiple spaces, the Summit will seek to disseminate the central concepts and opportunities of this new paradigm based on the triple impact: social, economic and environmental.

The international delegation brings together representatives from the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and America.

During the presentation, Enzo Cravero, president of the Ente BioCórdoba, valued the urgency of the Circular Economy as an alternative model to the Linear Economy of extraction and disposal. “The planet is depleting and we have to mobilize the way we produce towards sustainable development,” he pointed out.

“Our job is to connect. Every year, the summits have generated strategic alliances, plans, innovative roadmaps, and virtuous ecosystems,” Cravero described about the articulation necessary to generate changes at a local scale.

“This is a contribution that we make from Córdoba to change the world, to generate this movement attentive to the climate crisis that we have, which is tremendous” and added: “The environmental crisis is real, it is today.”
