After the final approval of the Base Law, Governor Gustavo Sáenz maintained that the national government already has the tools it requested and that the provincial leaders are no longer responsible for the destinies of the country.

“At the national level, we have provided the National Government with the tools it needs. We understand and nobility obliges us to provide them because the people voted for it. From that point on, it is no longer our responsibility whether the national government does well or badly,” he said.
In this regard, he said that, although they did not agree on many things, there was a civic responsibility to provide the government with the regulations it requested.
“We have fulfilled our duty, that is all. From now on, the country’s economic and social responsibility is no longer the governors’. In fact, the governors do not ask for loans from the IMF, we do not issue banknotes, we do not agree to restructure debts with the IMF, we do not devalue. We are not the ones who carry out the policy. We are the ones who ultimately have to bear the wrong economic measures, not us but our people,” he said.
Regarding the vote of the Salta legislators, he stressed that “they do not have due obedience” and that they vote according to what they consider.
He added that the only request he made was that they do not go against the interests of the people of Salta when raising their hands.
“It is much more important to have legislators who represent Salta than legislators who represent a president or a political party. When the interests of the people of Salta are touched, let them cut off their hands before raising them,” he asserted.
Regarding the restitution of the income tax, he considered that it will mean income that will help provincial and municipal governments.
