Given the worrying situation generated by the dengue outbreak that has been recorded in the department in recent weeks, the Boyacá Grande government held a meeting with the managers of the State Social Enterprises (ESE), the Service Provider Institutions (IPS) and public health leaders to address this situation that affects health at the departmental and national level.

During the day, concrete measures were agreed to address this emergency, prioritizing timely care of cases, improving laboratory processes and eliminating access barriers for the population in Health Providing Institutions (IPS).

“Special emphasis was placed on the importance of expeditious care for patients with dengue in the different provinces. The need to work on prevention together with municipal authorities to avoid new cases was also highlighted. It was recognized that the outbreak is being aggravated by the weather conditions and could last for weeks or even months,” explained Óscar Jiménez Espinoza, Secretary of Health of Boyacá.

The official stated that specific recommendations were made to the IPS, urging them to be alert to the presence of febrile symptoms, headaches, muscle pain and alterations in coagulation in people who have visited areas below 1,800 meters above sea level. sea. In addition, he emphasized the importance of patients seeking emergency medical care without waiting for the appearance of additional symptoms, as well as avoiding self-medication and reporting any type of access barrier imposed by the IPS.

The secretary also called on hospital doctors to stay updated on information related to dengue and announced the provision of technical assistance to guarantee an effective response to the complex epidemiological situation.

“The dengue situation is worsening in our country due to the eco-epidemiological conditions and the presence of the ‘Aedes aegypti’ vector, which is why it is important that all parties involved be vigilant and coordinate efforts to contain and manage this outbreak,” he pointed out. the Secretary.
