The Ruta 40 Challenge reaches Rioja soil
The eleventh edition of the rally raid race called “Desafío Ruta 40” will arrive this Thursday in the city of La Rioja. With a total of 115 participants, the race, which has 3,057 kilometers of route between connecting and competition sections, of which, 1,792 kilometers will be exclusive to the race, arrives this Thursday in the province, after taking place the fourth and penultimate stage in the province of San Juan.
The test features the best drivers in the world in four categories: motorcycles, quads, UTVs and cars, and throughout the day, motor sports lovers will be able to see each of the machines and competitors up close.
In that sense, the bivouac will be installed on the beach of the Superdomo Stadium, with free entry, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Likewise, those who want to witness the competitors pass through the special stage will be able to do so through the Spectator Zones, which will be located in Solca and Embalse Anzulón, in the Llanos area.
Farewell to San Juan and arrival in La Rioja
This Thursday the fourth stage will take place with 412 kilometers of special, in what will be the penultimate section of the YPF Ruta 40 Challenge. The beginning of this speed sector will be through a dune sector that will once again test the navigation of those who open the track.
Small dunes with vegetation that are becoming an area of swamps, are interspersed with some areas of salt flats where off-road specialists will be able to take advantage. Then, the race enters some of the Rioja roads that were visited by the race last year; These are very technical last kilometers that test the physical condition of the pilots since the margin for error is zero.
Results
Regarding this Wednesday’s section, when the third stage was held in San Juan, which had 341 kilometers of selective section and another 137 of connection, the North American Ricky Brabec won the day and took the lead among the motorcycles, while that Seth Quintero was the best among the cars, where Yazeed Al Rajhi continues to lead. For his part, Manuel Andujar establishes himself in Quads.
