In a new meeting of the Regional Moralization Commission of Caldas, representatives of the Comptroller’s Offices of Manizales and Caldas, the Provincial Attorney’s Office, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Attorney General’s Office, construction contractors and the Secretary of Sports, shared the progress of the works on the main coliseum and the skatedrome, mainly, which have presented problems in their execution, however, Diego Espinoza Benjumea, Secretary of Sports of Manizales, assures that the stages will be ready at the beginning of the second semester for the preparation and practice of Manizales and Caldenses athletes for the National Youth Games to be held in November of this year.

“We received a project (major coliseum) with 32% progress and today we are already at 75%, it already has a completion condition for August 26, while the skatedrome work is 96% complete, it must be to finish the contract this June 6 and we hope that within a period of no more than 10 days it will be at the service of the skaters,” Diego Espinoza Benjumea, Secretary of Sports. The official added that they are in talks with the Ministry of Sports to invest about 1.2 billion pesos, initially, for a fire-fighting network and the stage façade and they hope it will be before August.

For his part, Iván Darío Delgado Triana, comptroller general of Manizales, refers to the fiscal scope findings found in sports venues that total more than 700 million pesos, corresponding to the 2022 and 2023 periods in the Coliseo Menor and the Patiñodromo. , respectively. “The contract for the audit of the minor coliseum, which was suspended for more than six months, continued to be paid to the controller when there was no physical or real execution of the work, establishing an amount of approximately $450 million. Likewise, a second finding was in the audit of the 2023 validity period related to the remodeling of the BMX track, we found problems in planning and a finding for more than 260 million pesos related to the studies and designs.”

The municipal Comptroller added that today they have finds within these two sports venues for more than 720 million pesos. Likewise, they are addressing a complaint filed in the Manizales Council for the extraction of wood and other elements of the Coliseo Mayor and, in the same way, they will process another complaint related to the authorization made by the municipal corporation for the installation of the luminaires by a value of 2,000 million pesos in sports venues.

Meanwhile, the president of the Regional Moralization Commission and comptroller general of Caldas, Diego Alejandro Tapasco, seeks to establish the administrative situations that arose with the sports venues. The aim is to verify the progress and particularities presented between 2022 and 2023 and so far in 2024 in order to guarantee citizens that, in reality, these works will be delivered and, in an articulation with different entities, a boost can be given and, above all, the activities aimed at fulfilling the contracts that were established to carry out the aforementioned works can be specified.

The representatives of the commission visited the works of the main coliseum and the skatedrome located in the El Prado Popular Forest to check their current status for the national fairs that will be held at the end of the year.
