Deputy Veloso (RD) calls to strengthen the vaccination process against Influenza in Maule Sur

The increase in respiratory diseases has caused a considerable increase in demand for the health care network throughout the country, this as a result of influenza outbreaks that have reached their peak in recent days. As a result of this, Congresswoman Consuelo Veloso expressed her concern regarding this health issue, which has mainly affected infants, people with chronic cardiovascular or respiratory diseases and older adults, all considered risk groups.
“In recent days we have had to mourn the death of children, adolescents and older adults due to influenza. According to figures from the Ministry of Health, so far in 2024, the number of deaths amounts to more than 1,400 people, many of whom did not have the corresponding vaccination. This reflects the importance of getting inoculated to prevent them from experiencing serious symptoms and consequences to regret,” commented the Maule Sur parliamentarian.
In this context, the legislator highlighted the importance of primary health care – dependent on the municipal administration – in the vaccination campaign, playing a relevant role in controlling the health situation. That is why, faced with the current panorama, Deputy Veloso notified the 11 municipalities of Maule Sur requesting new vaccination points in order to strengthen the current campaign against influenza.
