A 31-year-old man was sentenced this Wednesday to 18 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of attempted murder to the detriment of a young woman who, at the time of being shot, in August 2022, was attending a minimarket located in the Empalme Graneros neighborhood. The injury she suffered to her chest was of such magnitude that the victim was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. According to the cause, the attack was related to conflicts between the girl’s boyfriend, a young man involved in criminal activities.

The resolution by judges Aldo Bilbao Benítez, Hebe Marcogliese and Rodrigo Santana was the culmination of an oral debate that had begun on May 27. The convicted person is Claudio Jonatan Peralta. Prosecutor Georgina Pairola had requested 20 years in prison. The court imposed practically the same amount as a sentence.

The attempted murder of Camila C., now 20 years old, took place minutes before midnight, on August 31, 2022 in the minimarket called Facha, in Cullen 531 bis. As proven at trial – and admitted by the accused himself at the end of the debate – Peralta posed as a customer and, pointing from the entrance door of the business, shot at the young woman.which was behind the counter.

The images of the attack emerged a few hours after the event, while Camila fought for her life. The girl was transferred to Carrasco Hospital and then to Heca. The injuries affected the clavicle and the dorsal paravertebral region and left a permanent disability in her lower mobility.

Peralta was arrested that same night by personnel from the Radioelectric Command. The troops saw him by Lucio V. López walking towards Felipe Moré.

There a chase began. Peralta pulled out the weapon and the officers fired deterrent shots, while the suspect continued his run and discarded the weapon. He was finally apprehended in Chaco at 700 bisin a private home, where he wanted to hide due to the refusal of his resident.

According to the investigation, the motive for the attempted murder was related to the disputes between Ían D., who was the girl’s partner. Apparently this young man had enemies within the criminal environment who decided to kill the young woman because of her anger. The girl, sources indicated, was unrelated to the world of crime. Today Ían D. is in prison for concealmentafter being arrested at the end of June last year with a gun and a stolen motorcycle.
