The more acidic Luis Martínez de Mingo returns literaryly with ‘Estigia’, a novel “with death as a theme and as a backdrop.” The Riojan writer presents it this Thursday in Logroño, at Librería Cerezo (at 7:00 p.m.) accompanied by Ricardo Alonso Maturana.

Edited by Pepitas-Los Acesos, ‘Estigia’ promises “dark humor and guaranteed fun.” A ship owned by a Swiss insurance company offers a unique service in the West: a cruise through the Mediterranean with no possibility of return to the port of origin. A death cruise. «A trip to meet the grim reaper without pain or shocks, all in an unbeatable environment. In this novel, which is closer to the paintings of Gutiérrez Solana or George Grosz than anything else, de Mingo unravels – with mastery and black humor – the troubles of old age and death in this ‘fantastic’ time that “We have had to live.”

Luis Martínez de Mingo (Logroño, 1948) has written and published poetry, essays, novels, short stories and television scripts. Among his books, ‘Portable Tales of the Penultimate Autonomy’, ‘Painting the Monster’, ‘Dostoevsky’s Dog’ and ‘Feed for Dogs’ stand out. With ‘Estigia’, they say in Pepitas, “the best Luis Martínez de Mingo returns. The same punk and hooligan spirit that he conquered us with what is – in our humble opinion – the funniest storybook in history: ‘The State Against Nature’.
