A prosecutor from the group of prioritized cases of the Delegate against Organized Crime showed that the illegal network allegedly had the help of officials from the Registry and the Chancellery to obtain, in exchange for bribes, the documents.

Information held by the Prosecutor’s Office indicates at least 73 irregular procedures. In one of these, documentation was completed for 53 people.

Analysis of databases made it possible to detect hundreds of national and international transactions for more than 3,411 million pesos that were sent in the name of members of the organization criminal.

The defendants were captured by the Dijin of the National Police during operations carried out in Bogotá, Amazonas, Atlántico, Bolívar, Caquetá, Casanare, Córdoba, Cesar and Sucre.

As a result of the investigation, the Registry Office has issued 29 resolutions so far this year to annul 344 original Colombian identification cards that were processed with false information. The Foreign Ministry, for its part, warned of at least 304 passports issued irregularly.

Those investigated were charged, according to their role and degree of participation in the criminal scaffolding, with crimes such as: aggravated criminal conspiracy, migrant trafficking, ideological falsification in public documents and illicit enrichment of individuals. In total, 18 of the defendants accepted partially or totally their responsibility for the charges attributed to them.

By order of a guarantee control judge orA woman was deprived of her liberty in a prison; 24 affected with house arrest and 6 more remain linked to the investigation.
