Multiplatform Fenix spoke with the president of the Argentine Chamber of Construction, Gustavo Weiss.

He indicated that national public works had been having problems since the second half of last year and are currently completely paralyzed.

Regarding the reactivation of some works, Weiss confirmed that agreements were initially signed with Entre Ríos, Chaco and Jujuy. “But we know that progress is being made with others, so La Rioja will probably also sign in the coming days,” he said.

He explained that the basis of the agreement is that the provinces are in charge of some minor works, while the Nation undertakes to execute larger works.

He pointed out that as a result of the stoppage of public works, around 100,000 direct jobs were lost, but another 100,000 more are estimated indirectly.

In that sense, he said that the restart of works will be a slow process, as will the recovery of employment.

“We value positively that private activity can make investments. But the state in its three snows always has to be executing public works,” he added.
