“From the organization we have different pedagogical programs that are offered to the community, among which are training for the educational community, such as social service, awareness raising for students, teachers, parents and School Patrol. The latter consists of seven days of training for students between third and fifth grade, two hours a day, and on the eighth day the closing takes place. During the week they are taught everything related to behavior on the road, traffic signs, sustainable mobility, their role as caregivers that in turn allows them to care for others by promoting good habits and behaviors,” explained Nini Johana López, psychologist assigned to the Road Education and Culture team of the Ministry of Mobility.

Likewise, students between kindergarten and second grade enjoyed recreational activities related to the city’s traffic. “Through experiential tasks with a colorful mat, a traffic light, traffic signs and a prototype of the MÍO bus that the children could drive, the little ones became familiar through play with everything related to road safety,” said the teacher. Elizabeth Montaño.

The traffic agent Adrián Asdrúbal Zorrilla was in charge of guiding each of the pedagogical days. “The experience with the students is always very enriching,” said the instructor. The fourth grade student, Josué Morales Motato, highlighted his pleasure in learning closed order. “I liked this a lot because I want to be a police officer when I grow up, so having us all organize ourselves and march at the same time is nice.” Likewise, the new school patrol officer Melany Dayana González Díaz, eight years old, said that “my mother has a bicycle and my father has a car, so I taught them that they have to stop when the traffic light is red because otherwise they might crash.”

Teacher Montaño expressed the positive aspects of this project “because there are 30 children who are multipliers for the other students at the educational center, they are also multipliers within their families. They themselves told us, during the training week, that many of their parents take their motorcycles to the platform, talk on their cell phones while driving, that many do not wear helmets, so they bring valuable learning and a new model of behavior to their parents. homes.”
