Video: Armand’s death, taken by the municipal cameras of La Plata

Felicitas Alvite, the influencer from La Plata 20-year-old woman arrested for running a crash that ended in the death of motorcyclist Walter Armand almost two months ago, received terrible news in Alcaidía No. 3 of Melchor Romero, where she is detained. The guarantee judge Marcela Garmendia confirmed his preventive detention, did not give rise to the lack of merit requested by the defense and maintained the accusation against him of simple homicide with possible intent.

In the ruling to which he had access Infobaethe magistrate validated what was investigated by prosecutor Fernando Padovan, who accused Alvite of running a dive with a friend through the streets of La Plata on April 12.

To support part of his statements, the prosecutor had included in his request for preventive detention a series of chats between the accused and her friends.

On April 19 at 00:27, the defendant wrote: “I want to ask everyone to make their Instagram private and not answer messages to anyone because everything is used against me.” Immediately, a woman named Agostina Renga comments: “They sent me, but I didn’t answer.” It is presumed that she is referring to some message that she received on her social networks.

Minutes later, Alvite’s sister writes: “Dude, Don’t answer from any group because everything is making a mess. They take it out of context. “Pretend dementia and forget everything.”

Felicitas Alvite, the accused

The defense’s main argument was discarded by the judge. Its abouta skill that indicates the speeds at which the vehicles were going. The average was 83 kilometers per hour. For the defense lawyers, “that cannot be considered the speed of the dive,” they argued. For the prosecutor and the judge, beyond the speed, the images from the security cameras that illustrate this note are compelling.

Although Garmendia’s writing is extremely harsh, there is hope for Alvite. The judge left open the possibility of future house arrest, “taking into account the age of the accused, her roots, her family situation, the absence of a criminal record and, especially, the procedural status of this investigation.” “I consider it appropriate to initiate an incident regarding the personality of Alvite in order to evaluate in the future a less burdensome measure than the one imposed in this resolution,” he summarized.

In the meantime, and until this last point is resolved, Alvite will remain detained. In recent days, prior to this decision by Judge Garmendia, a preliminary hearing took place in which the accused apologized to the victim’s family.

The car that Alvite was driving

Alvite surrendered earlier this month after the La Plata Court of Appeals reject the request for exemption from prison that had been presented by the young woman’s defense, led by lawyer Flavio Gliemmno. After he appeared at the DDI of La Plata, the lawyer explained that “He showed himself to be right as he did from the first moment.” After the rejection of the Chamber, Judge Marcela Garmendia requested his arrest at 4 p.m.

Three hours later, Alvite appeared before the Bonaerense.

The House confirmed the accusation shortly after. If Alvite is found guilty by a court, she could go to prison for 8 to 25 years.
