There is concern about a recent event that raised many questions among residents of 225th Street, right next to the “La Morena” farm. In that sector of Cipolletti A producer reported that two individuals were carrying out cleaning work on a farm without permission and fear an attempt to usurp the land.
The plot in question is located between the Wenlen and Tortoriello companies and belongs to the municipality. A producer who noticed the presence of the subjects, burning leaves near a ditch, was the one who warned the police. As it was learned, the two men who were carrying out cleaning tasks claimed that they had arrived there sent by a third party to clear the land of some trees and undergrowth.
Because it is community land, a neighbor filed a complaint explaining what happened and warning the police forces about an attempted usurpation. The complaint was not everything for the neighbor who did not hesitate to alert the police. As the subjects who were on the ground with unclear intentions had begun to burn leaves, the fire got out of control and volunteer firefighters had to be called to put out the flames.

The same neighbor who made the complaint also communicated days ago with the mayor of Cipolletti, Rodrigo Buteler, to explain the situation of the land and tell him that – previously – several people had approached the place to ask about those lands. They claimed it was for sale on Facebook.
The police not only have the names of the two individuals who entered the land and began cleaning, but – also – they have the identity of the person who sent them to carry out these tasks without any type of authorization from the Municipality. According to the complaint, the two subjects were unaware that entering the property to weed was an irregular maneuver.
The neighbors do not want the land to be usurped. They assure that they use it as an “environmental lung” and that they keep it clean among producers and businessmen who are based in that area.
Anti-taking protocol in Cipolletti
The Justice, the Police and the Municipality of Cipolletti have an anti-taking protocol. Given the suspicion of a possible usurpation plan, custody of the properties is ordered, which is usually coordinated with nearby landowners. The aim is to discourage the consolidation of land seizures, since it is then virtually impossible to liberate the lands.
Since the protocol of action was agreed, almost all attempts at usurpation were dismantled. The arrival of police and the immediate action of Justice were sufficient in almost all cases. However, usurpations were also avoided with the use of public force, as occurred in Ferri in 2022.
Those who participate in the seizure attempts in Cipolletti are informed of the legal actions they will face from Justice. The Municipality, for its part, tries to persuade them to seek access to land and housing in an organized manner.
