The Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley released a series of arrests for the crimes of kidnapping and extortion in Medellín in recent days.

Among the cases, the capture of five people accused of posing as foreign tourists to contact a tour guide and then beat him, rob him and leave him abandoned.

General Óscar Lamprea, commander of the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley (Meval), said that, of the five captured, three are of foreign nationality. Those captured are known by the aliases of Piter, Chamo, Santi, Ori and Eli.

“Those captured must answer for the crimes of kidnapping and aggravated robbery. These people would have detained a 36-year-old man who would work as a tour guide, in commune 14, El Poblado,” said the uniformed man.

The commander of the Meval said that some of those captured posed as Australian citizens and summoned the tour guide in El Poblado to take a tour of representative places in the city.

“The two females served as a decoy to deceive the guide, who once he meets the appointment is picked up in a public transport vehicle, in another vehicle Piter was mobilized, who verified that the criminal action was carried out,” said General Lamprea.

The designated criminals They moved through several sectors of this commune, where they beat the victim, stole his cell phone, wallet and personal documents. and later left it abandoned in commune 15 (Guayabal).

According to the work carried out on the seized items, the Police determined that alias Piter was the person who allegedly coordinated a criminal group that carried out illegal actions in the Provenza sector, the exclusive sector of El Poblado, such as the sale of narcotics and theft, among others. related crimes.

Likewise, it was determined that through violent actions they would have a monopoly on informal sales.

Regarding this crime, it was indicated that a foreign citizen, who would have been defrauded by the tour guide by giving him money to buy narcotics, but the man would have kept the money, was the one who hired this criminal gang as retaliation.

On the subject, General Lamprea indicated that “presumably the events occurred due to inconveniences derived from the marketing of narcotics.”“.
