Governor Carlos Amaya had a productive day in the Presidency of the Republic.

Bogotá, June 7, 2024. (UACP). In the Casa de Nariño, Governor Carlos Amaya, accompanied by the Secretary of Mines and Energy of Boyacá, Imer Murcia, held a meeting with the High Councilor for the Regions, Luz María Múnera, and the president of the National Mining Agency ( ANM), Álvaro Pardo, with the objective of following up on the commitments made with the inhabitants of the Coscuez district, in San Pablo de Borbur.

The president expressed that the agreements are progressing on the right track and indicated that very soon they will be in the West of Boyacá carrying out the first mining formalization and signing an inter-institutional agreement between the National Mining Agency and the Government of Boyacá to advance processes aimed at formalization. in favor of the development of responsible and environmentally friendly mining in the department.

“The objective of this joint work is to reach the entire territory with support, accompaniment and training, seeking options that allow solving the technical, social and environmental problems that arise in the exercise of mining,” said Amaya.

He also appreciated the commitment that the president of the ANM has had because, together with the Department of Mines Secretariat, they have carried out rigorous work to advance the technical and mining commitments established during the last meetings in the West of Boyacá.

“In the face of social investments and public investment, the Minister for the Regions assumed coordination. “We are going to move the date of our meeting one more month to have concrete things for our community,” said the governor.

Meanwhile, the High Councilor for the Regions, Luz María Múnera, expressed her gratitude for the patience that the inhabitants of this area who are dedicated to mining have had and assured that she has every intention of reaching Boyacá with an institutional offer and a broad social investment that meets the needs of this population.

Finally, the governor indicated that the departmental government has decided to join the initiative to reform the National Mining Code so that guaquería is recognized as an ancestral activity in the country.

The Boyacá Grande government is working to provide training in the region to promote and formalize regional mining.
