Four members of the criminal group ‘La Nueva Generación’ died in the middle of a confrontation with the National Police. In the operation, which took place in the Catarina village in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Ansermanuevo (Valle), six firearms, a fragmentation grenade, communication radios, ammunition, clothing for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, as well as bazuco and marijuana were seized.

In the operation carried out between the Valle Police Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Air Force and the Army’s Special Strategic Command, the members of the public force were received with shots by the criminal group. Nelson Augusto Gaviria Franco, alias ‘Fantasma’, leader of ‘La Nueva Generación, died along with three other alleged members, known by the aliases ‘Loco Luis’, alias ‘Poceta’, and a 17-year-old minor known as the alias of “Cachetes”, who were part of the leader’s security ring.

This operation, which was named ‘Achilles’, lasted 12 months. Personnel from the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) carried out the technical inspection of the bodies at the scene, and the Police managed to clarify 11 homicides that occurred in the North of the Valley, committed by ‘La Nueva Generación’. Alias ​​’Fantasma’ “had four arrest warrants against him for the crime of aggravated homicide in conjunction with illegal possession of firearms, considered to be a myth of insecurity by the community,” declared Colonel Giovanni Cristancho Zambrano, commander of the Valley Police Department.

Also, alias ‘Fantasma’ would be involved in the massacre that occurred on March 25, 2022, where four people lost their lives due to wounds caused by long-range firearms in the La María district, rural area of ​​Águila, Valle.
