The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STyPS) has identified critical aspects in local companies that did not comply with the payment of profits in a timely manner, as stated Nestor Garza Alvarezhead of the department.

The secretary explained that more than 50 consultancies that led to 20 formal complaintsof which nine work centers will face sanctions.

“We have managed to compensate close to 32 million pesos in calculations and damages for some workers in terms of profits. In addition, we have obtained more than 15 million pesos in bonuses from companies that did not present profits, but were willing to provide a bonus to their workers,” Garza explained.

The companies involved are mainly concentrated in the metropolitan area and mostly belong to the industrial sector, mainly the steel branch as the most affected.

“The exchange rate of the companies, being quoted in dollars, has generated losses for these companies. Although they maintained their production volumes, not all of them presented the dividends of previous years, which caused annoyance among workers. However, all of them agreed to provide a bonus in recognition of the efforts of their employees,” he added.

To follow up on the complaints, Garza Álvarez indicated that the STPS has implemented weekly work tables to resolve the situations and guarantee optimal and dignified conditions for workers.

“Compared to previous years, more utilities were paid this year, although there was not an increase as high as in 2022. The payment of utilities for individuals has yet to be delivered, the deadline for which is May 30,” Garza said.

The sanctions for companies that did not pay profits on time will vary depending on the type of offense committed. The secretary explained that some companies were late in submitting the annual declaration or did not properly integrate the mixed Commissionbut they are already delivering the profits.

“We will focus on those that failed to deliver them in a timely manner,” he concluded.
