Administrative education workers in Córdoba demand late payments

This Friday, nearly 200 administrative workers from educational institutions in the department of Córdoba blocked the passage in front of the headquarters of the Government, in the city of Montería. The central reason for the protest is to demand payment of labor debts that have been going on for more than a decade.

The protesters, coming from various municipalities in Córdoba, demand the payment of salary renewals that have been owed for several years, as well as retroactive payments for technical bonuses, overtime, compensation and default interest.

Furthermore, they denounce that the severance pay and compensation have been settled, but there is no willingness to pay on the part of the departmental authorities.

“The Department does not comply with the labor rights that we have had since 2010. They are compensatory, overtime, partial layoffs that the Government, both the Ministry of Education and the Department, are not complying with”said one of the protesters from the municipality of San Antero.

Neit Lemos, representing the Tierralta administrators, added: “We are demanding payment for a renewal, which is more than 12 years old, and also payment for a retroactive payment for templates that 2 years ago they told us they paid for in December and then they told us no.”.

The workers pointed out that, despite the promises of previous departmental administrations, the debts have never been canceleds. Therefore, they demand commitments to find a definitive solution to this prolonged situation.
