De la Rosa Gómez was pointed out by the Attorney General of attacking his ex-partner, Stefanny Barranco, with a knife on the afternoon of last Thursday, May 30, while she was working in a store in the Santafé shopping center, in the north of Bogotá. After the action, the man tried to take his own life.

During the indictment of charges, the prosecutor in the case highlighted the continuous threats that De la Rosa sent to Stefany Barranco after she made the decision to end the romantic relationship. In the documentary and testimonial evidence collected, the violence of the messages was evident: “If it wasn’t for him, it wasn’t for anyone.”

“The mistreatment that you had exerted on this woman,” stated the prosecutor, pointing out that all this generated instability, fear and trepidation in the young woman. “The situation of violence and abuse towards her was repetitive because there was frequent abuse and threats against them and in addition to this because she thought that her children could be in a dangerous situation.”

The young woman’s parents stated that in recent months she was uneasy, afraid to go out and answer her cell phone. For this reason, she had to ask for professional help and seek protection from the authorities. She “She felt pressured by you and she felt threatened. So then, at her time, she had to bring this to her family’s attention, Mr. Iván. “That’s why verbal psychological abuse and the violent relationship that would have existed between the two of you.”

The now accused, according to the evidence, saw Stefany as a “personal object therefore” and did not allow her to rebuild her life. This behavior led him to search for her on May 29 to attack her with a short sharp weapon to cause her death.

“After saying a few words in a low voice that the attendees of that commercial establishment could not hear, he began to hurt this woman. He makes her fall to the ground and continues to attack her on more than 18 occasions as indicated in the autopsy expert report,” revealed prosecutor 510 of the life unit.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Stephany died at the commercial establishment. “It was not enough for him to end the life of her romantic partner, but it was one of the reasons to flee or get out of the problem.” However, he was detained by local staff and visitors who tried to lynch him.

Due to the seriousness of the situation, the Attorney General’s Office asked the guarantee control judge to send him to prison due to the danger he represents to society and the risk of flight.
