On Wednesday afternoon, a child 11 years old was stabbed while asking for money at the traffic light on a busy corner in Córdoba. The incident, captured on a security camera, culminated in the rapid detention of the aggressor by the Police.
The attacker was identified as Maximiliano Arias, a 31-year-old homeless man. Initially, the motives for the attack were not understood, but investigations revealed that it was a territorial dispute. According to police sources, Arias usually asked for money at the same intersection and, upon returning after a brief absence, he found the child taking his place. Enraged and allegedly under the influence of drugs, Arias attacked the boy.
The brutal attack took place around 4:30 p.m. in the Ituzaingó neighborhood, at the intersection of Amadeo Sabatini and Juan Vucetich avenues. Camera footage shows Arias running between vehicles, dodging traffic, and stabbing the boy without warning. Then he fled.
Thanks to the intervention of the emergency system operators, the Police mounted an operation and arrested Arias near the scene of the incident. According to witnesses, Arias used to clean car windows on the same avenues where the boy asked for money.

The injured boy was quickly taken to the dispensary in the Ciudad de Mis Sueños neighborhood by his uncle in a gray Ford Focus. After the initial evaluation, he was transferred to the Children’s Hospital, accompanied by his grandmother. Fortunately, the injury was not life-threatening and he is currently out of danger.
The aggressor, with no criminal record, was taken to a police station and placed at the disposal of the prosecutor’s office on duty. A merchant from a nearby greengrocer commented that Arias lived in a settlement near the site of the attack and that it was common to see him asking for money in the area.
