From 2:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon, a sector of the Ondas del Caribe neighborhood, in the northeast of the city, at the entrance to the Oasis, El Salvador and El Pantano neighborhoods, with solid elements improvised a kind of artificial barrier that prevented vehicular flow through that artery, in protest against the lack of light, three days ago.

According to the community’s complaint, they have been without electricity for more than 72 hours because the transformer that provides them with electricity exploded and left an area of ​​that popular sector of Santa Marta in complete darkness.

There are more than 60 families that live in the area between Carrera 57 and Calle 9L and Carrera 54, who are suffering firsthand, the lack of electricity since Wednesday of this week.

“The blockade was lifted through a commitment from the District Mayor’s Office to the community. They are going to buy the new transformer to change the broken one, they deliver it to the Air-e company and they install it again,” said Richard Olmo Villalobos, mayor of Locality II, who was the guarantor to lift the blockade.

He assured that, under the word, provided by the Community official of the District Mayor’s Office, the residents in Ondas del Caribe lifted the protest after almost three hours.

During the time that the demonstration took, the exit and entry of vehicles to the port of Santa Marta was done through Avenida del Ferrocarril, which caused major traffic jams on that road, as it was one of the busiest in Santa Marta.

On Wednesday, the neighborhood was surprised when along Carrera 19, protesters made a kind of barrier with containers for garbage collection, which not only caught the attention of residents in the area, but throughout the entire city. city.
