In an intense and hyperactive year for Omega, the San Juan quartet band par excellence has a special celebration prepared. Tonight, Alejandro and Hugo Flores, plus the entire troupe of 12 musicians, will return to Hugo Espectáculos after 6 years and with an important detail: the recital will be an extended session of almost three hours that will represent a review of the entire history of this group that managed to transcend and enter through the front door of the national quartet. The dynamics of the show will consist of a sound tour of the group’s 14 years of life, in three 45-minute sessions, with about 60 songs in total, which belong to all their albums. Consequently, Omega will move through more danceable and festive instances, as well as more intimate ones with romantic ballads.

Carrying out a marathon of this magnitude, with so many hours on stage, means a high demand for energy and concentration from the entire team. But this is not an obstacle for the band, but something normal, since they have enough exercise to give their all on stage. Alejandro Flores, the percussionist, leader and manager of the group, spoke with CUYO’S DIARY in the hours before the mega show.

“It will be a lively and very happy recital that has many details and we will be able to sustain it with great enthusiasm. Although there will be moments to rest, the public’s encouragement sustains us. “Always in our shows we look for it to be intense and exciting,” said the artist and driving force of this combo that will return to the stage that gave them the necessary push for artistic takeoff during the first years of their career. It will then also be a return with a taste of nostalgia to this first “house” where they were born: “Six years have passed since the last celebration we had in Hugo, when we celebrated the eighth anniversary and the truth is that we are doing very well. It is an emblematic place for us, a stage where local, national and international artists performed, which brings back very nice memories for us, because we took our first steps in music here,” Flores said.

For the Omega boys, the recital space is a meeting point with their populous audience and they have a strong reserve of love and affection. “I remember that in this room we were the opening act and support for many figures from the country who came to the province and over time, we were encouraged to face our own recitals. Then came other big celebrations and thousands of behind-the-scenes anecdotes. We are doing very well in this present that we are living, it makes us excited. That’s why it motivates us a lot every day that more people enjoy our music and we don’t stop,” said the artist.

Over the years, the group established itself as one of the reference groups in the national quartet circuit, to such an extent that they had the pleasure of being present at the Cosquín Cuarteto last summer. And if that were not enough, they were participating in the Gardel Awards ceremony a few weeks ago. “Being in the cradle of the quartet was a challenge for the group and now we are also heading to Buenos Aires. In any case, there is still a way to go and more scenarios to climb. “Omega already belongs to the quartet industry and we are part of an interesting achievement in this movement,” the singer said.

After this show, Omega will have a national tour of Patagonia, visiting Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut, plus another stop through Mendoza, San Luis, La Rioja and Tucumán, Buenos Aires and the interior of Córdoba.
