Through a TikTok video, A Cuban in the United States listed three things she did not understand about Cubans living outside of Cuba when she was still on the island. The list concluded with the reflection that it is difficult for a person in Cuba to get an idea of what life is like outside.
“It caught my attention that people complained a lot when gas prices went up a few cents, something I considered insignificant. When I arrived I realized that for many people it depended on whether they could go to work every day. When I arrived, everything made sense “said user @amyyyyy_22, who resides in Miami.
The second thing I didn’t understand when I was still living on the island was why milk read the producer’s label like milk. “Why do they read labels? Milk is milk. When we live in Cuba, we only know one type of milk. In my head I couldn’t understand that people read milk labels. After arriving I realized how important is reading the labels”he commented.
“You really don’t have 5 minutes to answer me? That was my question when my friends took a while to answer me. And I said why don’t they answer me, until I was the one who didn’t have time to answer. We really don’t have an idea what “Time passes quickly and we have a distorted idea of what life is like in the United States or outside of Cuba.”he said to conclude the video.
