Erasmo Zuleta reported to the Prosecutor’s Office a possible case of corruption in the Ministry of Education of Córdoba

At the end of May, the governor of Córdoba, Erasmo Zuleta, raised the alarm about an alleged case of corruption in the department’s Ministry of Education and that is why he went to the Attorney General’s Office to thoroughly investigate the information found. Although at that time he did not give further details, he has already revealed concrete information about what is happening.

Although the amount of the alleged detriment to that department entity is yet to be determined, Zuleta asked the authorities to speed up the investigations to establish responsibilities and really know the magnitude of what is happening.

“It is presumed that the person or persons responsible would be using the ID cards of unsuspecting citizens to register them as teachers without being so and pass them off as affiliates of the National Fund for Social Benefits of Teachers, in order to obtain money for salaries and benefits. social”, said Governor Erasmo Zuleta.

He said that everything began to be investigated due to a complaint from a person who, apparently, used his ID to commit this crime and from there he put a magnifying glass on the issue to find out what was happening. ”This person testified that he had been deceived by a stranger who approached him on the street and offered him a subsidy of $200,000, for which he handed over his citizenship card and opened a bank account for him,” he reiterated.

These resources from the Government of Córdoba are intended to be used for payroll payment and other benefits of public sector teachers, who are duly registered and actually provide their services in the different educational institutions of the non-certified municipalities of the department.”

For this reason, the complaint filed with the Prosecutor’s Office asks to determine how the operation works since several bank accounts were even opened to make payments that include vacations, salaries, bonuses and other bonuses for more than six months.

Although the Government of Córdoba already has information about some people who would be behind this crime, it decided not to reveal the names so as not to hinder the investigations and for the Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether or not these officials participated in the detriment.

The Prosecutor’s Office said that it will speed up these investigations to prevent more resources from being lost and find those responsible for this fact that has generated a lot of controversy in the department of Córdoba.
