The president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder), Osvaldo Vento Montiller confirmed this Friday in Holguín the conditions of the province to host and participate in the LX National School Games.
The tour began with the Fernando de Dios Buñuel covered room, which will host school and youth volleyball, where he praised the quality of the repairs and maintenance carried out.
As stated on his Facebook profile by colleague Vladimir Marrero, Vento recognized the great effort made, highlighting the quality of the paint, the improvements in the roof and lighting. He urged the use of the space, which is located in the middle of an Educational Complex, to convert it into a Palace of Pioneers during the summer that will begin on July 1, the start date of the school sports festival.
He also explained that alternatives can also be sought so that the people of Holguín can enjoy the Paris Olympic Games through the giant screen in the room.
Holguín will compete in 32 of the 36 sports included in the School Games program, as well as in several youth competitions and in pioneering, in the case of chess.
Next June 25, at 09:00 am, local time, the flag will be flagged, in the Parque Mayor General Calixto García, of the delegation of this province, which aims to be in fifth position in the Schools, the same place is the prediction for the youth category.
It is Holguin’s goal that 25 sports be among the eight at the forefront, including 13 among the top five in that group, of which cycling aspires to the crown and third positions for water polo, tennis, beach volleyball, judo, sailing, rowing and others.
Holguín will host the first stage of these contests (June 29 to July 7) of school women’s volleyball, with the classified provinces and the host, in the “Ateneo” and school and pioneer chess, in both sexes in the Center of Art, with all the provinces and the Isle of Youth.
In the second stage (July 8-15), the City of Parks will host the 15-16 year old baseball final at the Calixto García stadium and the youth women’s volleyball tournament at the “Ateneo”, in both events the teams of house will participate as hosts, even if they have not qualified.
The opening of the Games in Holguín will occur on July 1 at the Eide Pedro Díaz Coello, the flagship center of Holguín sports, where school and youth athletes are trained.
