They arrested the driver who was driving drunk, got confused and caused a fatal accident

A 22-year-old young man who was traveling as a passenger of four others in a car died this Saturday morning on the Córdoba-Villa Carlos Paz highway when the driver of the vehicle, while intoxicated, got lost and overturned, according to police sources.

The tremendous accident occurred around 7:30, at kilometer 3 and a half, on the stretch that goes from the mountain town to the Capital, near the town of San Nicolás, when the driver of the Chevrolet Prisma admitted that he lost control and overturned.

As a consequence, one of the companions, officially identified as Matías Antonio Juárez, was ejected from the passenger compartment and lost his life instantly when he fell to the pavement. He “Hit the right guardrail and then the central bed guardrail and tumbled. One of the young people was ejected and was left lying on the shoulder, where the death was confirmed,” inspector commissioner Mriano Vaistij told Cadena 3.

The prosecutor of the Third Shift of Villa Carlos Paz, Jorgelina Gómez, ordered the arrest of the driver of the Chevrolet Prisma that overturned, near the San Nicolás neighborhood.

The Highway Police found that the driver was intoxicated, which is why the prosecutor ordered his arrest. He was charged with homicide and repeated injuries since three other occupants of the car suffered multiple injuries.

The other occupants, two women (19 and 20 years old) and two men (both 22 years old), suffered severe blows and were taken to the Sayago Hospital in Carlos Paz. The 19-year-old ended up with head and neck trauma and abrasions; the 20-year-old, cervical trauma and right leg; and another of the men, multiple traumas.

The driver, who was uninjured, was driving with 1.4 grams of alcohol in his blood. The expert reports and testimonies will determine if he was driving at high speed, although due to how the car was left and the type of accident, all indications would indicate yes.
