The Attorney General’s Office opened a charge sheet for the crime of libel and slander against the former Cesar deputy, Jesús Javier Suárez Moscote, for the use of homophobic expressions against the Minister of Justice, Néstor Osuna.

On August 24, 2022, during a session in the Departmental Assembly, the former Liberal party deputy questioned the Minister in relation to his sexual orientation, within the framework of a debate on the prison crisis. Read here: National budget will suffer a cut of $20 billion: Minhacienda

“Minister of Justice, I don’t know if he has pants or panties,” was one of the phrases used by Suárez Moscote, cited by the Public Ministry, which stressed that these expressions are considered an “outrage” of the order of “disgraceful.”

Cesar’s regional attorney, Miguel Ángel Rocha Cuello, described the political leader’s actions as “reproachable,” since it violated the “principle of morality” and goes against what is demanded and expected of a public servant, whose actions and expressions must be “framed in the neatness, neutrality and decorum of their expressions.” You may be interested in: Government issues decree to guarantee care for liquidated EPS patients

It is “inadmissible that disrespectful and abusive acts contrary to human dignity are tolerated since this harms the proper exercise of public function and the deterioration of institutions,” said Rocha Cuello.

For the Regional Attorney, the former deputy’s “expletives” against Osuna were launched in a “conscious” manner and with the firm intention of “offending and ridiculing him, also violating disciplinary codes, a fact that today has him facing disciplinary charges for being considered a serious offense.”
