The governor of Córdoba, Erasmo Zuleta Bechara, applauded the recent announcement by the company Air-e to reduce energy rates by 10% for users in strata 1, 2 and 3, and by 25% for the Special Areas that house the most vulnerable populations. However, he expressed concern about Afinia’s lack of action.
In her X account, Zuleta Bechara strongly urged Afinia aims to follow Air-e’s example and offer similar tariff relief to its customers.
“If Air-e could do it, why not Afinia?” questioned the departmental leader, pointing out that Both companies have made profits from the energy business and should show the same willingness to support users.
The governor stressed that differential or discriminatory treatment towards coastal residents cannot be accepted., and emphasized the need to achieve equity in the provision of energy services throughout the Caribbean region. “We are aware that the Caribbean will not have good energy service on a sustained basis as long as people receive bills they cannot pay,” he said.
