The first production will be shown in the Acapulco theater in this capital and addresses the story of Ramona, a forty-year-old woman who lives in a tense and precarious work and personal context, in a town on the Galician coast.

Matria, by Álvaro Gago, has its origins in a short film of the same name that earned this director an award at the Sundance festival.

Gago was inspired by an anecdote that he experienced closely to carry out this short audiovisual, in which Francisca Iglesias Bouzón, the real protagonist of the story, intervenes.

It was important to bring this story to the screen because we need people like Ramona to step forward, the director once stated.

He believed that in Matria the weight of reality and the influence of myth, the character of a region and the universality of its nature, the personal history of a woman and that of an entire territory coexist.

You know that, by David Trueba, will premiere at the 23 y 12 cinema, where the public will get closer to the first years of the comedian Eugenio’s career.

Eugenio Jofra, a young jeweler, learns to play the guitar to accompany Conchita, thus begins the musical career of Els dos, the synopsis highlights.

When Conchita is away from Barcelona for two weeks, she convinces him to do the performances alone, this makes him a phenomenon of underground humor in the city, he adds.

The Spanish Film Festival, inaugurated on June 1, invites you to discover the seventh Iberian art through films awarded at various international festivals, and also proposes an approach to prominent guest filmmakers, actors and scriptwriters.
