Alias ’Grande’, one of the most dangerous leaders of the FARC dissidents, was captured this Saturday by troops of the National Army, when they were carrying out territorial control tasks in the urban area of the municipality of Policarpa, Nariño.
According to information from the Army, this is an alleged leader of the Urías Rondón structure, of the Western Coordinating Commandand had a criminal history of approximately six years within organized armed groups that commit crimes in the Western Cordillera and the Pacific Coast of Nariño.

“The troops of the Land Operations Battalion No. 14 of the National Army managed to capture who would be alias Grande, alleged ringleader of commission of the GAOR structure Urías Rondón of the Western Coordinating Command of the Central General Staff of the FARC,” revealed the commander of the Third Division of the Army, General Giovani Valencia.

At the time alias ‘Grande’ was captured, he would be carrying out illegal activities, under the guidance of the finance leader alias ‘Majiño’, and who would also be his right-hand man.

“He was in charge of managing aid for the illegal structure,” he indicated and added that “he is accused of being responsible for the targeted killings and other criminal actions in the towns of Llorente, La Guayacana and El Diviso in the municipality of Tumaco and the rural area of Barbacoas.”
He pointed out that due to his knowledge in handling explosives, attacks with said devices against Army troops guarding security in the region have been attributed to him.
He specified that in the same way the armed strategy of that criminal structure in the region of the Western Cordillera and the Pacific Coast of Nariño.
He noted that the captured person was placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, in order to advance the respective judicialization process.
