With the participation of neighbors, authorities and the intersector, SENDA Tarapacá developed a Participatory Public Account in the Neighborhood Council, José Miguel Carrera. On the occasion, the achievements achieved during 2023 and the challenges that remain for 2024 were announced. In addition, the main aspects of the 2024-2030 Action Plan of the National Drug Strategy were presented.

The SENDA Tarapacá regional director, Alejandra Zúñiga, who led the activity, explained that the Participatory Public Account is a fundamental instance to promote transparency, dialogue and collaboration with civil society, in addition, it is an opportunity for citizens to learn about first-hand the policies implemented, the results obtained and the projections for the future.

Among the most relevant aspects, the regional authority highlighted the progress of the 2024-2030 Action Plan of the National Drug Strategy, where the Regional Prevention and Recovery Committee was formed in Tarapacá. In addition, he pointed out that in the area of ​​Prevention, more than 6 thousand students from 58 educational establishments in the seven communes of the region benefited from the Continuous Preventive program, strengthening their personal skills and abilities, as well as 25 public and private labor organizations. They reinforced their capacities to address prevention, by implementing the Working with Quality of Life Program.

He added that in order to strengthen neighborhood communities in the prevention of alcohol and other drug consumption, during 2023, through the Community Prevention program, 9 neighborhoods in 6 communes in the region were targeted.

Regarding the Treatment area, he noted that SENDA Tarapacá signed a collaboration agreement with the Municipality of Iquique for the installation of a program aimed at children and adolescents in outpatient and residential modality, increasing the treatment offer already present in the region. Regarding the area of ​​Social Integration, he indicated that Tarapacá is one of the three regions nationwide that installed the pilot of the Peer-Based Recovery Program (PER).

Likewise, he highlighted the presence of SENDA Previene in the 7 communes of the region, achieving 100% coverage in the region, “this program is the gateway in the communal, neighborhood and family spheres to the different programs that SENDA offers. “Zúñiga added.

On the other hand, he reported on the installation of the Gender Unit at the regional level, “last year we developed the first regional seminar addressing actions with a gender perspective to the executing teams of the Treatment, Prevention and Social Integration offer of our service,” he added.

Finally, the activity included work tables in which attendees participated with the objective of reflecting and discussing prevention, treatment and social integration, in order to gather information for the construction of the regional agenda with local relevance.

CHALLENGES

Among the challenges for this year, they consider the implementation of the 2024-2030 Action Plan at the regional level; the inauguration of a residential and outpatient treatment center for children and adolescents; the Implementation of the Comprehensive Prevention System with Territorial and/or Neighborhood Relevance; and the execution of the Peer-Based Recovery Program (PER) Pilot.
