Marine Infantry units of the National Navy found two explosive devices in the general area of the El Venado hamlet, located in the rural area of the Litoral de San Luan, in the department of Chocó.
Responding to the community alert about the presence of alleged armed men in Litoral del San Juan, troops from the Marine Infantry Brigade No. 2 deployed in the area, arrived at the El Venado hamlet and found the rectangular packages of explosive material with detonating cord in different sectors.
One of the explosive devices was near a home and the other was on a road.
Immediately, personnel from the Explosives and Demining Group No.2 of the Colombian Navy secured the area and carried out the controlled destruction of the explosives that, if detonated against the Public Force, would have affected the civilian population and homes. of the hamlet.
According to preliminary information, it is presumed that these explosives were left in the place by members of an Organized Armed Group that commits crimes in the area and would be planning attacks against the troops of the Colombian Navy, who have a permanent presence in the sector, to provide protection to its inhabitants.
