Lucas Aveldaño (38), former defender of the University of Chile and Deportes Iquique, granted an interview to AS from Spain. The Argentine addressed his emergence as hyrox athlete, a fitness competition (click here to read)and he remembered his time in our country with great affection.
“There is always the disagreement between the Argentinian and the Chilean, but the truth is that When I went, I was pleasantly surprised.. I was in Santiago and Iquique, and in both places they made me feel very welcome. It wasn’t difficult for me to adapt… I got along very well with people, so “I will always be grateful for Chile, the U and Iquique,” he says..
Aveldaño, who today is part of Andratx of Spain, He values his days in Chilean football. “I always did well in the clubs and gave everything,” he explains.and proceeds to talk about the present of the University of Chile and Sports Iquique.
“I’m not one to watch games, but I always look at the results. The U and Iquique had just started with everything, so I was waiting… When I was there, the U was not going through a good time, but hey, everything balances out and improves. When positive results appear, things are easier to handle,” he explains.
In Chile, in addition, Aveldaño formed a great friendship with Matías Rodríguez, who today shines at 38 years old in Deportes Melipilla: “We are very friends. We talk every week and we are very connected. Is incredible. I don’t know if the statistics are available worldwide, but he must be one of the highest scoring defenders. The amount of goals he scored at the U and in every possible way… It makes me very happy for him.”
Finally, Lucas Aveldaño says that he would like to return to Chile. “I will surely return from vacation at some point, because I have friends there. When I go to Argentina, I will surely escape to Chile,” he closes.
