More than 800 cyclists participated in World Bicycle Day in the city of Neuquén.

Serenelli said that “it is important to take care of each other to be able to have safe transit. This activity highlights that the bike is part of the city and that we have respected it as a means of mobility.”

Bicycle: the noble and ecological means

In this sense, he appreciated that “Mayor Mariano Gaido has improved the planning of the city with bike paths in different sectors of the city, which today we are enjoying as a family. We thank the neighbors who came today to participate in this beautiful and healthy event.”

The start, as well as the finishing point, was on the esplanade of the monument to General San Martín, and the route had two circuits: one of one kilometer for children and another of fifteen kilometers for adults.

Noelia Rueda, Undersecretary of Administrative and Institutional Coordination, expressed that “with this activity we also want to make visible and raise awareness about the use of bicycles, and that during the tour we can see the tourist spots of our city.”

“We have already reached 76 kilometers of bike lanes and cycle paths throughout the city, creating a connection for the safety of cyclists who do so recreationally or who use it as a means of transportation to get to work, school, among others.”

Bike lanes and kilometer records

Last year the number of bike paths grew, especially in the connection between Parque Norte and Alta Barda, which is one of the most visited and connecting sectors in the city.

The network of bike paths, sidewalks, healthy posts, accessibility and LED lighting was extended in the western sector of the North Park. The Municipality of Neuquén completed and inaugurated the work that adds to the area that is located parallel to Avenida Alfonsín (former Route 7).

For his part, Santiago Morán, Secretary of Mobility and Citizen Services, commented that this new sector located west of Parque Norte has an extension of 1,700 meters and joins the previously inaugurated one, achieving a circuit of 3,300 total meters.
