A tragic accident occurred this Sunday, June 9, on the road that leads to the municipality of Mesitas, when a motorcyclist crashed and his co-pilot fell into the abyss of Salto del Tequendama.

The accident occurred in the morning, specifically at kilometer 8+750 on the Soacha – El Colegio road, according to the Cundinamarca Fire Department.
The accident involved an AKT CR5 180 motorcycle with INT 90E plates. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Jeyson David Quevedo Salcedo, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a protective wall. The impact was so strong that the co-pilot, a 17-year-old girl, was thrown and fell approximately 100 meters into the abyss.
Witnesses to the accident captured on video the dramatic moment in which the authorities rescued the young woman. The images show the rapid response of emergency teams, who deployed an operation in the area to provide assistance.
“The accident occurred in the morning hours at km 8+750 on the Soacha – El Colegio road,” reported the Cundinamarca Firefighters. “An AKT CR5 180 motorcycle with INT 90E plates collided with a protective wall, the driver receiving the impact and the co-pilot leaving a young woman who fell approximately 100 meters into the abyss.”
The young woman, identified as Jary Nicol Vaca Vásquez, was assessed at the scene and later transferred to a hospital to receive medical attention. Unfortunately, Jeyson David Quevedo Salcedo died at the San Luis hospital in the municipality of Soacha, where he was taken after the accident.
