These first assets delivered on loan by the SAE will be used as residences for students from indigenous communities of the Alma Mater.

In a historic event, the University of Magdalena received from the Special Assets Society – SAE, two properties that had been seized from illicit activities, which will be used to recognize the work of the students and facilitate academic permanence.

The formal ceremony took place within the framework of the Commemoration of the Day of the Fallen Student, as a way to compensate for their struggles in favor of education over time.

Dr. Pablo Vera Salazar, top director of this House of Higher Studies, expressed that on this occasion they are receiving goods that truly add value to the Institution and that correspond to its missionary functions.

“We have to recognize President Gustavo Petro for that political will and institutional decision that is materializing today. Thank you very much for helping us continue transforming lives through education,” he stated.

The Rector also highlighted the importance of this delivery for the Alma Mater. “This is a historical milestone for our University of Magdalena, often forgotten by centralism; Today the SAE is breaking that, not because of the number or quantity, but because of what each one of them means, we feel deeply favored by the National Government, we recognize, thank and validate.”

He also indicated that this type of initiative must become state policy and that the assets seized from illegal economies benefit the communities, the universities and the victims. “May the legacy that corrupted institutions become seeds of hope.”

For his part, Daniel Rojas Medellín, president of the Special Assets Society, stated that the Government’s purpose is for these properties to serve to culturally transform the department of Magdalena and to stop talking about fallen students.

“May we never again have to talk about fallen students and never again have to vindicate the memory of the young people who were trained to guarantee the rights of societies and so that we can have a position in the world as professionals,” he said.
