The work plan contemplated offering 27,976, but the Cuban doctors managed to exceed the schedule by 123 percent.
According to a document to which Prensa Latina had access, in 2023 it was planned to carry out 44,585 consultations in May, and 49,295 were carried out for a compliance of 111 percent.
The report states that the Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti carried out more than 4,700 surgical interventions free of charge in May.
In the fifth month of 2024, 4,711 procedures of this type were carried out, of which 1,018 were major and 3,693 were minor.
The document points out that 3.6 minor surgeries are performed for every one major intervention.
The monthly plan in this medical section is 3,419, and it exceeds compliance by 138 percent.
This report highlights that the figure of 43,680 operations is set for 2024. Until May, 18,131 interventions were to be carried out, and 22,528 were carried out. Now 21,152 are pending to close 2024.
When referring to major surgeries, compliance is 119.7 percent and minor surgeries are 143.7 percent.
Cuban doctors in Haiti performed hysterectomies, cesarean sections, ectopic pregnancies, inguinal herniorrhaphies, hydroceles, appendectomies, among other operations, in addition to emergency surgeries.
