The report on the travel expenses charged by provincial deputies in recent months continues to be a matter of conversation in different areas of society, which react when some of the powers of the State “jump out” and “use” the public money they We all contribute from Chubut.

It is fair to clarify that, according to official records, deputies Aguilera, Bowman, Cavagnini, Hogalde, Hollman, Caminoa, Juncos and Willatowski have not requested travel expenses so far this year.

The report published by Jornada last week revealed that, until now, the provincial deputies collected 106 days of travel expenses, of which 80 were to go outside of Chubut and only 26 for transfers within the province.

According to calculations, and taking into account that, for each provincial travel fee, 101,000 pesos are paid and for each travel fee outside of Chubut, 135,000 pesos are paid, so far this year, the deputies have spent more than 13.5 million for this concept.

The one who picked up the gauntlet in the last session of the Legislature was the Peronist deputy Gustavo Fita, a “serial traveler” who so far this year has charged more than $713,000 for trips within Chubut and more than $1,631,000 for his raids. by CABA.

However, it was not the sense of self-criticism that motivated Fita to speak, nor the sincere desire to clarify the reasons for his frequent trips to Buenos Aires “banked” with the money of the citizens of the province.

What triggered the reaction of the Comodor deputy was the slap on the wrist from Governor “Nacho” Torres who challenged them in public and asked them to act with austerity.

A provincial deputy receives a salary close to 4 million pesos. With such succulent income, the least that can be expected is that they be transparent and inform citizens of the reason why they are requesting extraordinary funds, which, in some cases, they could and should pay out of their own pockets.

Taking the case of Congressman Fita, the Jornada report shows that the legislator charged travel expenses to defend the Viajante Law in the Senate, the union that he himself leads in Chubut.

What Fita should clarify is why we Chubut people have to “bank” him a trip to Buenos Aires, which he should pay with the funds of his union, not with funds from the Legislature.

The message is not only for Fita but for all legislators, because it is clear that many of the travel expenses received have been used to carry out union, professional or personal activities, which were not duly clarified.

It is not the same for a provincial deputy to request money to travel to Gan Gan or Gastre, to meet with the residents of the Meseta, than to ask for a travel allowance to go to Buenos Aires to participate in an activity that has nothing to do with the task of a legislator.

That and putting your hand in the pockets of the people of Chubut are the same.

I would recommend to the parliamentarians of Chubut who have benefited from this travel expenses festival, that they relax a little, that instead of being offended by the journalists who report, they worry about raising the image they have on the ground, which is also deteriorated. for the very poor performance they have in the venue.

It must be recognized that some legislators do quality work, as evidenced by the report card that we present to the audience after each session. However, the majority of Chubut deputies neither present projects nor open their mouths.

Yes indeed. To travel, they are phenomena. And to travel too. Of course, with the people’s money and at the expense of all the people of Chubut.
