During a meeting held at the island’s diplomatic headquarters in this capital, both the scholarship recipients and their parents had the opportunity to have an exchange with Syrian professionals who studied in the Caribbean nation and graduated in different specialties during the last 30 years.

The head of the Association of Syrian Graduates in Cuba, George Bittar, explained to those present the high level of teaching in the largest of the Antilles and the discipline that is required in terms of attendance at classes and fulfillment of study tasks. and teaching standards.

He stressed the importance of learning the Spanish language and excelling in studies to give a civilized image of his country and returning after completing his studies to put his knowledge at the service of his community.

While Bashar Ajib, a doctor in telecommunications, transmitted his experience to the boys and highlighted the importance of getting involved in Cuban society and respecting the customs and traditions of the Caribbean country. In Cuba, they will have families and acquire values ​​and a great sense of humanism, and in addition, they will feel the affection and solidarity of Cubans who share with foreign students what they have and not what they have left over, Ajib said.

In turn, the Cuban ambassador Luis Mariano Fernández Martínez and the person in charge of consular affairs Hilda Realín explained to the young people the procedures of their scholarship and the sacrifice that the island makes to offer these scholarships in the midst of difficult economic conditions generated by the blockade.

They indicated that thousands of health professionals graduated from Cuban universities and today offer their services in their countries.

Almost half a million Cuban doctors have carried out internationalist missions in remote communities in dozens of countries since 1973, the diplomats said.

During the meeting, questions and concerns from the students and their parents were answered, and they were wished success in both their studies and in the new phase of their life.
