The national government, through the State Property Administration Agency (AABE), began the process of selling five properties seized in the most high-profile cases of corruption, drug trafficking and human trafficking in the country. The objective, official sources reported, “is to transform the assets seized by Justice into resources that benefit society.”
Among the assets to be auctioned are properties seized in the cases known as “Notebooks“, “Carbón Blanco” and “Clan Aliaga”. “The measure represents one of the most significant blows against corruption and drug trafficking in Argentina,” they added.
“White Coal” is one of the causes of drug trafficking in the country’s history. In 2012, 1,200 kilograms of cocaine were seized from Carlos Salvatore, considered one of Argentina’s biggest drug traffickers. The seizure of these assets represents a crucial step forward in dismantling criminal networks with a presence in the country.
Likewise, in the case of the “Notebooks” case, the seizures were ordered by the Court within the framework of the investigation into Daniel Muñoz, former private secretary and presidential advisor to Néstor and Cristina Kirchner, and his entourage, who are accused of carrying out money laundering operations. The investigation began in 2018, when journalistic reports revealed a network of bribes and corruption in public works, which would benefit officials close to the former president. For its part, the “Clan Aliaga” case addresses a serious case of human trafficking. Clandestine workshops operated in three houses in Bajo Flores, where 34 men and women, along with their minor children, were subjected to slave labor conditions.
“Through this measure, the national government reaffirms its commitment to transparency and justice, allocating the assets obtained from crime for public use,” they noted.
