The National Police dismantled the criminal group “Los Aletas” in Villavicencio

Six people were prosecuted for their participation in at least 25 cases of motorcycle theft in the capital of Meta.

The National Police, through the Criminal Investigation and Police Intelligence Section, in a coordinated effort with the Attorney General’s Office and the Mayor’s Office of Villavicencio, achieved in the last few hours the dismantling of the criminal group “Los Aletas” dedicated to the theft of motorcycles through the modality of pulling and robbery with firearms in the capital of the department of Meta.

Through investigative and Judicial Police actions carried out for more than six months, the authorities managed to identify the members of this criminal group, among them, four men known as “Lalao”, “Cirigüelo”, “Beiker” and “Bwis”, as well as two women known as, “Yurani” and “Tati”; who had influence in the Covisán, Simón Bolívar, El Recreo, Amarilo neighborhoods and the Parque Guayuriba sector in the city.

Their modus operandi focused mainly on wandering the streets of the city on motorcycles and taking advantage of the opportunity when they saw abandoned motorcycles on public roads, to break the locks and take the vehicles to special places where they hid them. On other occasions, they approached motorcyclists and, through intimidation with firearms or short sharp objects, stripped their victims of their vehicles.

Colonel Milton Andrés Melo González, commander of the Villavicencio Metropolitan Police added that: according to the investigative process, it was established that this criminal group, led by alias “Lalao”, a man with an extensive criminal history for crimes such as theft, homicide and possession of firearms; It would be related to at least 25 events of motorcycle theft in the capital of Meta.

The probative material elements and physical evidence presented by the prosecution were sufficient for the judicial authorities to order a search and seizure procedure on a property located in the Simón Bolívar neighborhood and to issue arrest warrants against these people for the crime. of qualified and aggravated robbery.

“Lalao”, “Cirigüelo”, “Yurani” and “Tati” were captured by uniformed officers from the Criminal Investigation Section in the neighborhoods of Santa Fe, Simón Bolívar, Morichal and the municipality of Cumaral, while “Bwis” was notified of the court order against him, taking into account that this subject has been deprived of his liberty for several months for theft.

On the other hand, “Beiker” was issued a blue INTERPOL circular, taking into account that he was captured in Ecuador for terrorism, since he was part of a criminal group of Ecuadorian, Venezuelan and Colombian citizens; from whom long-range rifle-type weapons were seized.

During the search and seizure procedure, several stolen items and motorcycle parts were seized, as well as tools used to commit these criminal acts. It is important to note that, in the month of September, two motorcycles that had been stolen and hidden in the Dos Mil neighborhood, the property where alias “Bwis” lived, were recovered.

With this operational result, it is possible to significantly affect the criminal groups that are dedicated to this scourge and it is expected that this crime will continue its downward trend in Villavicencio and the metropolitan area. So far this year, motorcycle theft has registered a reduction of -7%, which corresponds to 30 fewer cases than in the same period of the previous year.

On the other hand, the operational actions that have been developed to confront this criminal phenomenon have allowed the capture of 26 criminal actors who are dedicated to the theft of motorcycles in the city.
