Governor Sáenz confirmed the continuity of the works at the Salta airport

The expansion and modernization works at the Martín Miguel de Güemes airport will not stop. The governor Gustavo Saenz , together with the Regulatory Body of the National Airport System (Orsna) and the Ministry of Transportation of the Nation, agreed to continue the work, which will have an investment of $80,000 million. It will be financed with funds from the Trust for the Strengthening of the National Airport System.

This work is strategic for the tourist and productive development of Salta and one of the demands raised in the Güemes Pact convened by Governor Gustavo Sáenz.

“We guarantee the continuity of the modernization and expansion work of the Martín Miguel de Güemes airport, a strategic project for the tourist and productive development of the province,” said Governor Gustavo Sáenz, while highlighting “the 250 jobs that will be generated, very important in a complex situation.”

With this investment, it is planned to double the surface area of the Salta airport station, which will be among the most modern and with the greatest operational capacity in the country. Currently, it is the most important terminal in Northern Argentina for aircraft traffic, both domestic and international flights. With direct air routes to Lima and San Pablo, the Government is working to establish new connections.

“The impact that tourism has in Salta is significant, that is why we promote this activity with infrastructure that generates a lot of employment and development throughout the province,” added the president. When the work is completed, the capacity to receive passengers will double, Salta will add connectivity and provide a better experience to the visitor.

In 2023, the Salta airport received more than 1.4 million passengers annually, exceeding pre-pandemic traffic levels by 2%; During the same year, it recorded 12 thousand aircraft movements. The planned execution period is 20 months and it is planned in such a way as to enable its execution without generating a closure.

The Güemes Pact convened by Governor Sáenz, tends to make works of this type a reality that prioritize the interests of the people of Salta and counteract decades of disinvestment and imbalances due to policies that privileged other regions of Argentina.
